A 3D concept model of a hoverboard, built as a prop for a character I have recently developed which I will upload slightly later this month. The idea for this was to create a means of rapid land transport for the character. My idea was to create a board which looked like a modified snowboard, with a sporty, urban kind of feel to it.

Modelled in Maya, textured in Mudbox and rendered in Mental Ray.

Thanks man, it took a total of 2 days to do, but it wasn't 2 full days as there were 2 other models that I was working on at the time. So in all fairness I would say it was only about a day, which includes the unwrapping and texturing and rendering, but the latter only took about 20min away. :)

Hey bud, I have been working in 3D for exactly 13 months now, but this is a real passion of mine so I put alot of effort into learning as much as I can. So hopefully in time i can improve quite a bit :)

Thats a really nice glow effect you achieved. If you don't mind me asking how did you go about doing that?

Thanks CGWolfgang, the glow was done in post, because this is only a prop for a character, I used the opportunity to refine the glow in post, rather than tinker with it in Maya and save valuable time. Now that I have a good idea as to the 'look' that I like, I can start building the shader come animation time. :)
